SHRM Recertification Credits at SWCHRS

The Southwest Center for Human Relations Stuies (SWCHRS) is proud to announce its recognition as an official Recertification Provider with SHRM, the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. As a member of the esteemed SHRM Recertification Provider Network, SWCHRS can award professional development credits (PDCs) toward recertification for its educational programs that align with the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge® (SHRM BASK®).

If you have earned the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credential, you have a three-year recertification period to earn 60 Professional Development Credits (PDCs). As a SHRM Education Provider, SWCHRS is available to help you continue to build your knowledge and earn PDCs.

AI, Employment Law, and the Future of Work: Compliance, Risk, and Workforce Transformation

Live Learning Lab — Leena Said

Date & Time: March 10 from 2-3:30pm CT

Location: Virtual (Zoom)

Session Details:

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping hiring, management, and decision-making across industries—bringing unprecedented opportunity alongside significant legal and ethical risk. As states begin regulating AI tools and federal agencies increase scrutiny, employers face heightened liability for algorithmic discrimination, even when tools are created by third-party vendors. This session explores the emerging legal landscape governing AI in employment, including discrimination risks, transparency requirements, state-level regulations, and the evolving responsibilities of HR and compliance professionals.

Participants will examine how AI-driven automation is transforming job roles, which occupations are most vulnerable to displacement or restructuring, and what new fields and competencies are emerging. The session also addresses a growing trend rarely discussed: the rise of AI-powered pro se litigants filing more sophisticated legal claims without attorneys. Together, these shifts create a complex environment in which employers must proactively mitigate risk, audit their technologies, and plan for workforce impacts while ensuring equity and accountability.

Learning Outcomes

1. Legal & Compliance: Identify the legal risks associated with using AI in hiring, performance evaluation, and workplace decision-making, including liability for discriminatory outcomes produced by third-party tools.

2. Workforce Impact: Analyze which job roles are most susceptible to automation, augmentation, or displacement due to AI integration.

3. Litigation Preparedness: Recognize the growing trend of AI-assisted pro se litigation and its implications for employer risk exposure.
